Ko Omura

drummer Composer Tabla Player

 

Ko was born in tokyo, Japan on the 29th of August 1981.

His family relocated to the United States when he was 4 years old and it was in that certain geographical place he was luckily found by music through classical piano. As a child he used to practice this instrument a lot but soon his passion shifted to baseball and soccer....

 

Years after, he found himself living in Sydney Australia and his passion for music revisited him through the drums. He practiced this instrument a lot which opened many doors such as winning the annual drummer's playoff in Sydney and getting endorsed by sabian cymbals.

He went on to study at the prestigious Sydney conservatoirum of Music. a fine music school with many great young musicians, it was there where he started to explore the world of Jazz and improvisation.

After graduating he relocated to his home country Japan, and since then was fortunate enough to connect with many musicians in and out of Japan. 

 

Ko has performed at Tokyo Jazz festival, Yokohama Jazz Promenade, Sapporo city international jazz Festival, Anman Jazz Festival (Jordan), Noosa Jazz Festival(Australia), Manly Jazz Festival(Australia), and many more.

He has performed in India, Usa, Australia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and all around Japan.

From 2013, he has started learning tabla officially in Mumbai, india under the guidance of Pandit Yogesh Samsi.

In 2015, He was selected as a representative for the Ministry of Culture of Japan as a new up and coming artist to pursue his studies in Indian clasiical music.

 

He strives to create his own unique voice to serve music of all styles.
